Share the Seed, Share the Story // Local Food Fair 2014
Locals may refer to it as “that potato dinner at the high school” but Farmshed likes to call it the Local Food Fair and use it as our premier outreach event, bringing people together to celebrate community and the food that’s grown within it. This year’s fair will be held at Stevens Point Area High School on Thursday, February 13th from 5:30-8:30pm – it’s FREE and open to the public!
The Details & Event Schedule:
Info Fair & Marketplace // 2014 Farm Fresh Atlas Premiere – 5:30pm to 8:30pm: Attendees can page through a copy of the brand new 2014 Central Wisconsin Farm Fresh Atlas while they peruse the information fair and marketplace comprised of local farmers, businesses, organizations, and restaurants who work together to support the local abundance in our region. Local Organic Potato Bar Dinner – 5:30pm to 7:00pm: Each year we welcome community members to feast on a free local, organic, baked potato. This year’s potatoes will be sourced from Malek Family Stewardship Farm. We supply the standards (butter and sour cream), while deluxe toppings, donated by regional restaurants, will be available for $2. View the deluxe toppings menu here.
Seed Swap – 6:30 to 8:30: Have extra viable seeds left over from last year? Want to split a seed packet? Share your extras and try something new by participating in the seed swap! Don’t have seeds to share but want to participate? That’s okay! Stop in, pick up some seeds, and consider making a donation in lieu of swapping. Does your seed have a story? Stick around to share it, or tell us about your first garden, how you got hooked on local food, and more! Click SEED SWAP INFO 2014 for more information!
Children’s Activities: The Tomorrow River Community Charter School will be providing Waldorf-inspired activities utilizing natural materials as well as face painting! Fun for all!
