The Farm Fresh Atlas began in 2002 in the Southern Wisconsin region as a project of REAP Food Group. The idea took off, and there are now five regional Farm Fresh Atlases in Wisconsin putting sustainable farms, farmers’ markets and local businesses and organizations that promote local food “on the map.”

Each regional Atlas is produced independently by grassroots coalitions including nonprofit organizations, farmers, farmers’ markets, UW-Extension, Resource Conservation and Development District offices (RC&Ds) and University of Wisconsin campuses.

Farmshed produces the Central Wisconsin Farm Fresh Atlas annually.  It’s a free local food guide that lists farmers who sell directly in an eleven county area.  It includes a quick reference that works to provide vital information about what each farm produces, their practices, contact information and the services they provide (example: you-pick strawberries).  In addition to farms, the atlas is a guide for local food events, workshops and businesses around the region.  The Atlas is available at The Greenhouse Project, local libraries, and area businesses that support the local food economy.

If your farm or business is looking to sell local products to local consumers this is the place to list.  Maybe your business or organization wishes to promote the local food economy.  The Atlas is the perfect fit.

Know a local farm, business, organization, or community resource that may want to list in the Atlas? Please forward this along to them, let them know about the Atlas, or send us an email with your suggestions and we’ll reach out to them.

Once the Atlas is printed (all 30,000 copies), we will call on community members to deliver them to locations throughout the region.  We are always looking for more partners to put them on display.  If you are interested in helping with delivery or wish to display the atlas, please email us: info@farmshed.org

We Believe: 1) Food should be grown in a sustainable manner 2) People should know how to buy, grow, harvest, preserve, and prepare local foods 3) The public should know local farmers 4) Farmers should know who eats their food
