Central Rivers Farmshed

We organize events, programs, workshops and resources that help support a local food economy.

Participants will gain an understanding on how Liberation Farmers have applied permaculture principles & design methods on a homestead/small commercial farm. Such as:

  • diversifying food production
  • rainwater harvesting
  • solar & biofuel energy sources
  • passive solar shelters
  • waste/nutrient cycling for soil building
  • community engagement in food & farming education & CSA products

Several small activities will take place on the farm:

  • Zone & Sector Analysis
  • Element Analysis
  • Measuring Contours for Small Earthworks
  • Native Biome Mimicry

Hosted by John Sheffy of Liberation Farmers.

John Sheffy co-operates Liberation Farmers LLC, a permaculture enterprise based in Almond, Wisconsin.  The Liberation Farmer Front is the permaculture homestead and commercial farm that is focused on perennial crops and heritage animals.  John has worked in several African countries over the past 15 years on agroforestry projects including school and urban food forests, shade-grown coffee and cacao farms, and large-scale dryland silvo-pasture.  He believes everyone should plant a food forest in their neighborhood.

The cost is $45 for members and $50 for non-members. Registration is required for this event. Register here. Register by noon on Thursday, Oct 27th!

We also have full or partial scholarships you can apply for here.
