Central Rivers Farmshed

We organize events, programs, workshops and resources that help support a local food economy.

Central Rivers Farmshed is planning a Fall Up-Cycling Rummage Sale

Friday, October 2nd (1pm to 7pm)

and

Saturday, October 3rd (9am to 3pm)

We all have things lying around, just waiting for someone to put them to use. Now’s your chance to help those items reach their full potential once again, all the while helping Farmshed grow the local food economy!

Your contributions and purchases will help all of these amazing Farmshed programs grow during the 2015/2016 season:

  • Farm to School’s Local Food Tastes Great Fundraiser
  • Farmer Tribute Dinner
  • Central Wisconsin Farm Fresh Atlas
  • Local Food Buying Club
  • Local Food Fair
  • Growing Collective
  • Farmshed at the Market

PLEASE SAVE YOUR STUFF!!!!!!

WE WILL BE ACCEPTING YOUR DONATIONS OF NEW, LIKE NEW, OR GENTLY USED ITEMS ON:

Wednesday (Sept 23) and Friday (Sept 25): 3pm – 7pm

Thursday (Sept 24) and Saturday (Sept 26): 9am – 1pm

That dusty food dehydrator in your basement will bring such joy to a budding food preserver.  What about those pruners you haven’t picked up in a few years, bring them by, we’ll find someone with trees in need.

Donations will be tax deductable. You’ll be given a receipt with your drop-off.

WHAT TO BRING:

It would be great to see a sale dedicated to cooking, preserving, gardening, and farming items but we don’t want to limit our abilities to get good things into new hands and keep them out of the landfill.  With that in mind, feel free to bring along (things that work, have all their pieces, are clean and devoid of stains, etc):

  • Kitchen items
  • Tools
  • Sporting equipment (ex. bicycles, fishing rods, ice skates)
  • Books
  • Artwork
  • Clothing
  • Toys
  • Exercise equipment
  • Office supplies
  • Furniture (must be in near-perfect condition)

*Please note that donated items may be kept and not sold if they can benefit Farmshed’s programs and/or facility, so thanks for stacking us up!

WHAT TO KEEP AT HOME:

While we can all appreciate how much up-cycling does to transition one man’s junk into another man’s gold, we do have to set some limitations on what will be accepted into the sale (thanks to St Vinnies for the sample list).  We will not likely be selling the following at the sale:

  • Tube and rear projection televisions (we will take working LCD and LED T.V.’s
  • Console stereos
  • Sleeper sofas and sleeper love seats
  • Microwaves, humidifiers and dehumidifiers
  • Computers and computer components, Typewriters and word processors, and fax machines
  • Large appliances, dishwashers, range hoods
  • Tires & Batteries,
  • Plumbing fixtures, carpet, doors and windows, and building supplies (Tile, bricks, cement blocks, built in cabinets, counter tops, etc)
  • Non-working electronics
  • Mattresses
  • Random things:
    • Used bicycle helmets
    • Carseats
    • Cosmetics
    • Hats

HAVE SOMETHING YOU CAN’T BRING TO THE SALE?

We may choose to advertise large and/or valuable items separately through Facebook before, during, or after the sale.  Or possibly have someone pick them up from you!

If you have something you wish to donate, please call 715.544.4859 or contact organizers at up-cycle@farmshed.org with a picture and description of the item(s).

IS VOLUNTEERING YOUR PASSION? WE’LL NEED HELP PULLING THIS OFF!

VOLUNTEERS are needed to help clean up the greenhouses to make way for the sale. We will also need help promoting, sorting, organizing, pricing, and more.

Click on the link to sign up on United Way’s VolunteersRock.org.

New positions will appear as needed so check back often if your passion has not yet shown itself!

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

PLEASE HELP US BY FORWARDING THIS INFORMATION TO YOUR FRIENDS AND NETWORKS!

The more we can share the collection and sale dates the better.

Word of mouth also goes a long way!
