Letter from Board Chair - Barb Brewster
Dear Farmshed Supporters,
Farmshed exists today because a group of friends meeting for breakfast on Friday mornings decided to be the change they wanted to happen. They gave their time, resources, and knowledge to begin educating people on local food. They planned and hosted the first Farmer Tribute Dinner and Local Food Fair, brought chef demonstrations to the farmers market, educated aspiring farmers, published the Central Wisconsin Farm Fresh Atlas, and organized food-based workshops at the library. As Central Wisconsin residents learned about these activities, they started to get involved, some even created their own Farmshed programs; all worked together to spread the good food word. Their collective vision and action set the stage for where Farmshed is today!
Now, to keep Farmshed’s mission moving forward, continued investment from the community we serve is needed.
The Farmshed Board of Directors has set a goal to raise $30,000 by June 30th. These funds will enable Farmshed to advance its important work. To kick things off, together, the board has pledged $3,000 or 10% of the goal and now we are asking for your donation!
If all of Farmshed’s supporters gave $15, we would meet our goal immediately.

Let me tell you why I give to Farmshed and why I am asking you to give too…
Investing in Farmshed benefits everyone in our community. With your support, more eaters will be able to purchase the freshest and best tasting food grown locally. Every family farmer benefits when his/her products are purchased directly by local consumers, restaurants, schools and other institutions. Our local economy benefits when farmers purchase supplies locally and create jobs on their farms. Our rural communities benefit by retaining residents and businesses. Local businesses benefit when more money earned locally is spent locally. And of equal importance, our natural resources benefit from the environmentally friendly farming practices! The big picture: Farmshed is creating community and economic development opportunities based on a local food system that benefits everyone and the earth.
It’s time for us to invest in Farmshed’s future. If you haven’t donated to Farmshed before, now is the time to do so. If you previously donated to Farmshed, we thank you and hope you’ll continue to support our efforts.
I believe in Farmshed’s mission and vision! I believe you believe! Together we can help Farmshed make a greater impact on local food in central Wisconsin!
